One Million Toys of Peace for One Million Smiles

On April 1, 2008 the Mexicans launched the campaign: “One Million Toys of Peace for One Million Smiles,” with the goal to collect one million peace toys until April 30th.

Based on Article 31 of the United Nations that recognizes the right of the child to engage in play, this year AMISRAEL – The Messenger of Peace in Mexico sought to make different the observance of “Children’s Day.”

Anyone can participate by donating toys that promote peace, so that children can learn the importance of peace and nonviolence and encourage education, dialogue and tolerance.

In addition to putting a smile on a child, the campaign seeks to create awareness that some toys may induce the use of guns and incite violence among children.
