The National Congress of Paraguay holds a Memorial
September 11

A memorial for all victims of terrorist attacks in the world was held in the Sessions Hall of the National Congress of Paraguay, with the intention that we “remember so that it is not repeated.” This act was proposed by AMISRAEL – the Messenger of Peace.

Present at the event were the ambassadors of France, Spain, Argentina, Uruguay and Peru.  Also present were Mr. Michael Edward, a representative of the Embassy of the United States, and Mr. Max Haber, the Honorary Consul of Israel, and members of Paraguay’s Jewish Community and representatives from Academic Institutions like UMA, UTIC, UNINORTE, and from the Polytechnic and Artistic University of Paraguay.

Mrs. Ana Maria Mendoza de Acha, the First Vice President of the Senate opened the event delivering the following words: “We were summoned today by AMISRAEL, the Messenger of Peace, to an act that is far more than a mere memory or a tribute to the victims, we are here to reinforce in each one of us a profound rejection to this so called strategy to “call the attention” or to “demonstrate disagreement” with certain forms of Governments or Unions. As human beings, from the bottom of our hearts, we reject this; we reject dominion over the principal and fundamental priority of human rights, which is our right to life and existence; and which for us, as believers, is controlled only by God.
… All parliaments of the world should create, renew, promote and expand the laws against terrorist attacks, seek its eradication and regulate state laws, which is an unrestricted guarantee of security to all citizens.
As parliamentarians of the world we must be the protagonists of this objective, fulfilling at this stage the world’s history; this is one of the necessities urged by our voters.
… No more terrorist attacks! No more forgetfulness!  For this challenging solidarity,  our gratitude to AMISRAEL – the Messenger of Peace: Thank you for this memorial, thank you for this occasion in which we can reaffirm our commitment with the construction of a new society, and a new solidary world, pacific, receptive and fraternal.”

Dr. William Elías Paras, AMISRAEL’S Delegate to Paraguay expressed the following: “In this globalized and integrated world, we cannot say that an existing conflict on the other side of the world does not matter to our countries.
… Today, September 11th is a highly symbolic date, it was far more than an attack against the United States, in fact, it was an attack against the nations of the world, of which Paraguay participates as an active member.
… Let’s strive for Peace, because Peace is in our hands
.”

Rabbi Pablo Lugt delivered the following words: “… Where there is prejudice and hatred let’s conquer with love and understanding; where there is fear and suspicion, let’s replace that with faith and trust; where there is tyranny and oppression, continue fighting for freedom and justice.
Our millenarian tradition teaches us that the world is sustained by three principles: By truth, by Justice and by Peace. May this blessed country be governed by these three principles, so that its democracy grows day after day, so that solidarity covers us with its protective shadow, and Peace is felt in every home and in every heart, in our life and in our nation…

Dr. Maria Liz de Arnold, who is a member of the National Commission of Human Rights, and a Peace Ambassador, stated the following: “Today, September 11th,  we were summoned for a time of reflection to ask ourselves some questions: “What is terrorism?” In general, terrorism constitutes a violation of human rights.  That’s why today it is a key subject; a definitive subject for the current international policies in each and every country of the world.
In this fight, the worst challenge a man can face is inoperativeness.

Nevertheless, the HUMAN FACTOR and HUMAN RIGHTS are compared to the oxygen we breathe; we only value its importance when we need it.
Whosoever promotes development and a culture of peace, will obtain power.”

Thereafter a theatrical play was presented on terrorism and its eradication, and on AMISRAEL’S objective, which is the search for Peace in the world, presented by a group of Agents of Peace, composed of young people and children, brilliantly directed by the actor Jorge Ramos. This presentation was followed by the artistic presentation of the dance group Lehakat AMISRAEL of Paraguay.

At the closing of the event all the participants were invited to lay a white flower in memory of the victims of terrorist attacks on the sculpture donated by the Plastic Artist, Hermán Guggiari, which represents the twin towers of the World Trade Center.
