Religions United For Peace
“For a just, pacific and sustainable world.” That was the call made to all the religions of the world today, which from the 21st through the 24th of September will be gathered in Mexico, host to the 2007 World Interreligious Encounter (event associated with the Universal Forum of Cultures – Monterrey 2007 and the Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions).
Leaders of different religions, professors and activists gather with the purpose to seek harmonious coexistence among all individuals, utilizing religion as a tool.
“The specter of terrorism is very broad and even having political issues involved, the heart of it is religion,” said Dr. William Soto Santiago, International Director of AMSIRAEL, in the panel “The Specter of Terrorism.” And with him, conferences were given by Dr. Tu Weiming, Professor of Chinese History and Philosophy and Confucian Studies of Harvard University and Director of the Harvard-Yenching; and Dr. Joseph Runzo, Professor of Philosphy and Religious Studies of the Chapman University in California and Executive Director of the Global Ethic and Religion Forum.
During the next eighty days over one thousand events including conferences, concerts, and a considerable amount of cultural presentations and expositions are prepared to receive all the participants.
The Universal Forum of Cultures – Monterrey 2007 is a global event that takes place every four years and seeks to reunite citizens from all over the world. On this occasion, Monterrey was chosen to consider and propose solutions to matters of global importance such as peace, education, knowledge and conservation of the planet, among other topics that will be discussed.
