International Day in Memory of the Holocaust in Ecuador

The United Nations declared January 27 as the "International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust". Aware that this framework contemporary history by intolerance and racism reflected against a people, the volunteers of the NGO AMISRAEL – The Messenger of Peace - in Ecuador, with their project “Agents of Peace", held a Photo Exhibit in memory of the victims, with only material Museum in Boston.

This event took place in the Hall of the Municipal Palace of the Metropolitan District of Quito. With the presence of Mrs. Consul of the State of Israel Galit Ephraim. The AMISRAEL delegated in Ecuador, Dr. Franklin Enriquez, spoke about AMISRAEL´s work being done in building a culture of peace, with the objective of promoting respect for life, diversity and human rights, to prevent events like the Shoa to be repeated.

Galit Ephraim appreciated AMISRAEL initiative of organizing such an important ceremony in memory of the victims and said: "I urge not accept the statements of some who deny the Holocaust, and of our responsibility as human beings not to repeat history." Finally he thanked the Ecuadorian people for hosting citizens Jewish survivors of the Holocaust with a Shalom!

During the event was a moment of silence at the touch of the trumpet by a member of the National Police, and then took place on 6 lit candles in honor of the 6 million Jewish victims of this genocide. Finally was opened the  photograph exhibition, which brought together many people among students, political, religious, journalists, soldiers and the general public.
