100 CITIES AROUND THE WORLD PARTICIPATED IN “WALK THE LAND”
“AMISRAEL in Chile was part of an important walk in commemoration of the State of Israel’s 60th Anniversary.”
For the first time in the world the project “Walk the Land” was conducted in body and spirit. Thousands of people worldwide joined the initiative of Karen Keyemet Leisrael in alliance with Afikim Foundation of New York, to celebrate the State of Israel’s anniversary in a different manner.
On June 29, under the concept of walking for peace, Chile took the challenge.
AMISRAEL, along with Israel’s Embassy and Karen Keyemet Leisrael, conducted the walk. Approximately one thousand people were gathered at the bottom of the Santa Lucia hill to walk up to its peak in Caupolican plaza.
The event was directed by the Ambassador of Israel, David Cohen and AMISRAEL’S International Director, Dr. William Soto and the President of KKL-Chile, among others.
The celebration began with Chile’s typical Cueca dance and Lehakat Dance Group. The choir of AMISRAEL rejoiced the walkers and filled the atmosphere with joy.
Mr. Roberto Muñoz, President of KKL stated: “We believe that with friends like you, whom with much eagerness strive for the peace of Israel, we will reach peace. We are grateful for your presence and we will continue building the State of Israel and we will build a state in Peace, with you, for you, Amisrael Hai.”
Israel’s Ambassador thanked everyone present for their support and manifested his happiness to see a great multitude in such an important celebration for Israel, “This combination of AMISRAEL with Keren Kayemeth Leisrael, is delivering a message and greetings to the State of Israel; these acts of solidarity is what gives us strength to discharge our political objectives.”
Dr. William Soto Santiago, International Director of AMISRAEL also participated in the event and delivered the following words: “Here, the Santa Lucia Hill, in Santiago, where the city of Santiago was born, is a strategic place for this celebration because it is the mountain that we can call a trademark, the hill of the city that acclaims with its name the Patriarch Jacob, the saint of Israel.
Congratulations to the State of Israel for its 60 years, to its leaders and all its people, and hopefully soon the word Shalom can become a daily and constant reality in Israel and in every corner of the planet earth, AMISRAEL Hai.”
Rabbi Shmuel spoke of the millennial dream of the Jewish people: “United celebrating 60 years of our beloved Israel here on this hill, in this unity that transcends horizontally and unites us in diversity, with a message of Peace; I believe it is like Dr. William Soto explained it, a couple of years ago the Apostolic Nuncio Monsignor Aldo Cabali said: ‘When there is Peace in Jerusalem, there will be Peace on Earth, that is part of AMISRAEL’S mission and part of the millennial dream of the Jewish people.’”
Hundreds of blue and white balloons were released into the air to conclude the celebration in commemoration of the 60 years of renaissance of the State of Israel.
