That is how AMISRAEL feels today, in Bogota, along with the 12 of the 15 hostages abducted years ago by armed groups, freed during “Operation Jaque."
The ex-hostages were reunited with their families at the Military Club. President Alvaro Uribe, Ministers of State, Officials of the Ministry of National Defense together with the Directors of AMISRAEL were present at this historic moment for the nation and the world.
Ingrid Betancourt seemed calm and confident that her life was beginning. Her eyes radiated affection toward the soldiers and every person in the room.
AMISRAEL has been working arduously for the peace in Colombia, evidence of this is the more than 2 million agents of peace in the national territory. Some followed the situation of the hostages very close, subject that is constant in the agenda of this NGO group.
We still have a long path to walk. About 700 other hostages remain separated from their friends and family. A big step was taken today, fueling the flame of hope to soon have a Colombia in peace.
