Children’s Day in Guatemala
In 1954, the General Assembly of the UN approved a resolution by which the Universal Children’s Day was established aiming to promote fraternity and understanding among children all around the world. This Project was carried out by UNICEF. Ever since then, more than a hundred countries celebrate this day, although the day chosen varies according to the country. In Guatemala the chosen date was October 1st.
AMISRAEL celebrated this day with an especial event at the “Colegio Internacional Americano en Tourism “C.I.A.T.” (International American Tourism School) where recreational activities and puppet presentations were carried out. These activities are a very effective means of conveying specific pedagogic objectives. In this specific case, the intention was to transmit ethic and moral values, among the families and the society in general.
After the presentation, the volunteers from AMISRAEL, together with the teachers and professors from the school shared recreational games aimed at the intellectual development of the children from this educational facility.
