AMISRAEL takes part in religious gathering in Panama

Panama, February 21st, 2009.

As a part of the works AMISRAEL Panama promotes in order to spread a culture of peace among several sectors of society, the agents of peace took part in a grand Fraternal Musical Concert, for leaders and members of several religious beliefs.

The concert, which was organized by the leaders of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and by the Regional Praise Quartet, was attended by over 300 people, most belonging to the Indigenous ethnicity Ngobe Buglé – which represent 65% of the indigenous population in Panama – and have peaceful coexistence as one of their main principles . The event took place at the entrance of their county.

The promoter of the Agents of Peace Campaign in San Félix, Mr. Jorge Silva Salazar, presented the main objectives of the campaign and thanked all the participants. He also expressed his desire that Peace becomes and increasingly practiced value among the inhabitants of that county.

The Praise Quartet signed up as agents of peace after their concert, committing themselves to take a message of peace and equality through music wherever they go.

A documentary film about the celebrations of International Day in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, in Bogotá, Colombia, was shown as a part of the festival. The film invited everybody to reflect and embrace the diversity which exists among Christian religions, and also to work for peace between Israel and Palestine, as well as the whole Middle East.

The AMISRAEL delegate in Panama, Ariel Cerrud, passed on the cordial greetings from Dr. William Soto, international director of the NGO, who congratulated all those who work for peace in all the events which sought to embrace convergence and keep alive the memory of the victims of the Holocaust.
