AMISRAEL Celebrates the International Women’s Day in Panama

March 6th, Panama city

Under the direction of the honorable congresswoman Dalia Bernal, AMISRAEL and the “Centro de Información de las Naciones Unidas en Panamá (CINUP)” (UN Panama Information Center), carried out an act for honoring more than 150 women from the District of San Miguelito, specifically “Corregimiento* de Torrijos Carter”.

The event was held at the “Valle de Urracá” School, where people shared a day of celebration, learning and fellowship.

During this event, the honorable congresswoman Marina Ardines, on behalf of Congresswoman Dalia Bernal, thanked the audience and AMISRAEL for their efforts to celebrate this important date, which states that gender equality is a battle constantly waged for the recognition of women and their role in society.

The event included various training workshops in the areas of beauty, and health psychology. In her turn, the Mrs. Jiesselinde Gonzalez, representing the UN, gave a lecture focusing on the role that women have fulfilled in the history of mankind.

Mr. Caleb Elizondo, AMISRAEL’s PR, presented the objectives of the Agents of Peace campaign and explained how the women can actively participate in this work.

Various souvenirs, educational materials and books on the subject of women were handed out, sponsored by the UN headquarters in Panama.

At the end of the activity there was a toast of celebration for women who work in all aspects of their lives for establishing a culture of peace in the world.

* Translators note: a “Corregimiento” is a Spanish term to determine a certain kind of country subdivision, which in many other places could be called a state or a province. It is commonly used in Colombia and Panama.
