AMISRAEL celebrates Children’s Day in Mexico
April 30th, Nuevo León, México
In 1954, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution by which it established the "Universal Children's Day", in order to promote an annual day devoted to brotherhood and understanding among children around the world. The international body responsible for developing this project was UNICEF, and currently there are more than 100 countries which devote a special day to honor the youngest, even though the due date varies according to the place.
In Mexico, in 1924, April 30 was chosen as Children's Day. In order to commemorate this important event, AMISRAEL held a special event at “Hospital Regional de Especialidades No. 34” (Regional Specialties Hospital No. 34) in Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
The international director of AMISRAEL, Dr. William Soto Santiago, who was in the country participating in activities to promote the project "1 Million Toys for Peace to 1 Million Smiles", visited the medical center, shared hours of entertainment and joy with the children that were hospitalized, and visited to the neonatal intensive care units.
Smiles and thanks recreated the event where dozens of children received toys of peace, and also lived hours of entertainment with charismatic clowns and entertainers who generated different emotions among little ones and their family members.
This health center takes care of children suffering from heart and Respiratory disease. According to the directors of AMISRAEL, the event was held in order to remind the society in general, that all children in the world regardless of their status, have the right to health, education, adequate living conditions, recreation and play, protection and the free expression of opinions; among others.
Dr. Hector Martinez Chapa, the hospital's director, expressed his appreciation to Dr. William Soto Santiago for his visit and the ongoing efforts undertaken to promote a culture of peace in the midst of children.
